The road from Idaho to Hollywood can seem very far… a seemingly impossible dream... but people from Idaho Falls and alumni of this festival have gone on to study filmmaking in film schools in many different states and countries… we’ve been able to keep track of just a few of them and these are some of the projects they’ve worked on.  Ready?

  • They have been crewed on broadcasts for CNN, Fox Sports, Reale Salt Lake

  • Worked on feature films for Disney+, Netflix, Hallmark, Paramount, SpikeTV, BYUtv, and for the LDS Motion Picture Studio as well as many independent films and passion projects.

  • Created online social media and marketing content that have been seen by millions of people.

  • Created video content for dozens of corporate companies and helped them move millions of dollars of sales. 

  • Have worked with artists, comedians, politicians and personalities — including Pentatonix, Lindsay Sterling, Ben Folds, Colbie Caillat, David Archuleta, Sean Astin (Sam from Lord of the Rings), Jordan Sparks, Larry King, Conan O’Brien, Jon Heder, Collin Mockery, Elizabeth Mitchell and Will Forte.

  • Some have even gone on to become professional actors in L.A.

  • Worked in production design — making props and designing real and virutal sets for theater and touring arena shows 

  • become senior animators at Industrial Light and Magic and other top visual effects companies like Cantina Creative that do visual effects for the movies listed above.

  • gone on to work at some of the top advertising companies like the Martin Agency and worked on advertising campaigns for Amazon, Google, Facebook, Snapchat, Royal Caribbean, Coinbase, Hasbro, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Nerf, DoorDash, DishTV, Wells Fargo, Suburu, Chevy, Young Living, Hale Center Theatre

  • They have made dozens of short films and documentaries that have won awards and been shown in film festivals all over the world

  • Alumni have traveled the world in pursuit of their film and photography passions. We have tried to feature those alumni as best we can on the festival’s Instagram page.

  • Even as high school students, alumni of this festival won a $100,000 dollar award for Burley High School

In a world where companies live or die by their video marketing content, skills in the visual arts are becoming not just a fun hobby but a necessity in our digital world — and a competitive edge in the job market!

We hope this list inspires students to keep chasing their passion and keep making films and showing them.  Famous film director David Fincher’s father once said to him — “learn your craft, it will never stop you being a genius.”
